Lucy

July has been an interesting and sobering month for me.  I had the good luck of having my shoulder replace so I have no more pain in my arm, however, I had the great sadness of losing my beloved Lucy who was our eight year old standard black poodle.  Dr. Louis Bigliani replaced my right shoulder on July 18th two weeks ago today.  He did an unbelievable job in repairing a very arthritic shoulder that was frozen tight.  The staff he worked with did a very good job of making my stay at New York Presbyterian a very positive one.  Dr. Bigliani is an awesome surgeon who has a deep human touch that is very special.  Dr. Bigliani is very special in that he cares deeply about his patience and is very interested in teaching his student Doctors the best way to handle the orthopedic repair so that the patients will live a pain free productive life.

Lucy was a beautiful standard black poodle that had a great warm personality.  She was about forty eight  pounds and full of love and happiness.  She was always the first to meet me at the door when I would come home.  She was happy just to just be by my side and willing to receive all the love I could give her.  Lucy was my best friend, her along with her sister Ellie loved to go to the football field at the local high school and just run loose.  They would play on the field and hunt for all kinds of different sticks and balls to play with.  They loved the snow a lot.  When it was very cold they loved it the most.  I think it was because they knew I was freezing and wanted to get back in the car.  Lucy and Ellie were quite a pair they did everything together, they ate together, ran together, fought together, they loved to get treats together and above all they loved to get rubbed together from their poppie who was me.  Lucy passed away on the night of my surgery July 18 th 2012.  We really don't know how, but, it doesn't matter all we know is that she is greatly missed.  Ellie has been having a hard time, however, we are trying to make her feel special.  We are glad she is here because it has eased our own sorry.  Ladies and gentleman it's hard to type through tears, but, Lucy was a great gal I will always remember her with great happiness and love.  For all of you that have lost a pet she is more than just part of the family, her whole life was dependent on you.  There is a great emptiness inside of me especially since I didn't have a chance to say goodbye to my beloved Lucy, but, I know there is a heaven and I know I'll see her again.  There is a great sense of loss, but, to have that loss means that I had to have a great amount of love for that to happen.  Goodbye Lucy see you in heaven.
